Hello, I'm Pat Doran.
I am a graphic designer who specializes in user interface design for the web. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with degrees in graphic design and photography. I am currently enjoying myself in the windy city, Chicago.
My approach to design is that of problem solving. I believe the job of a designer is to find the optimum solution for every design problem. What works for one project may not work for the next. A designer has to be creative and practical to find the solution that works best for any given project, all the while keeping within the project's limitations. Every problem has a solution, finding the solution is the fun part.
I'm a real treat to be around. Just kidding. But I do understand the importance of working in a group, that's why I always treat my co-workers with respect and and I understand the importance of their role and how my performance effects them and the overall project. I try to make the workplace and enjoyable environment. I'm currently enrolled in the improvisation program at Chicago's Second City theater, which helps me work well with others in a team dynamic and assess and lead my own projects.
I also have an extensive comic book collection if you'd like to talk about that.
One of my greatest strengths as a worker is I understand the business of design as much as the art. I understand my role within a project and the importance of working within a budget and on-schedule. I never allow a project to be completed late or below satisfaction. My ability to work with businesses is always one of my most praised qualities.
